Dear Carlisle Families,
Winter is coming, but it's not here yet.
Autumn, however, seems to be here in all of its glory, with apples, pumpkins, turning leaves, cross country, field hockey, and possibly the new fall classic Parents and Teachers Softball Game, which is scheduled for this Saturday, October 5th at 2:00 PM. Check out the district calendar on our website for the dates of upcoming field hockey games and cross country meets so you can support our student athletes, and you can also see the variety of clubs which are now underway, as well as the dates and times of their meetings.
It wouldn’t be October in Carlisle without the annual Spaghetti Supper, which is hosted this year by the Class of 2027 (6th grade). This event, taking place on Thursday, October 24th in the Corey Dining Room, brings the entire community together. The Class of 2027 presents A Night in Venice! Be sure to purchase your tickets online for this well-attended event. At the end of the month, we also look forward to another Carlisle tradition which is the Halloween parade scheduled for Thursday, October 31st at 10:00 AM on the plaza.
There are also a couple of dates you may want to be sure are in your calendar for the upcoming month. There will be no school on Monday, October 14th in observance of Indigenous People’s Day. There will be an early release day on Thursday, October 24th and no school on Friday, October 25th, for parent conferences for our elementary school teachers and professional development for our middle school teachers.
Additionally, there are significant religious and cultural holidays and observations that take place during October and at the beginning of November this year. We know it can always be challenging to have a child miss school for a religious holiday or cultural observation, but I want to assure you, we will do everything possible to decrease any such challenges as much as possible. I am sharing this link to our District policy on Accommodations for Religious and Cultural Observances, to assist you, but please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, thoughts or concerns you may have, as we want to ensure that school does not become an issue when families are contemplating their holiday and cultural observations.
Wishing you all a wonderful month.
Warm regards,
Jim O’Shea
