Dr. Dennet Sidell
I am currently in my eleventh year as Elementary Principal of the Carlisle Public School. I thoroughly enjoy working with the faculty, students, families and members of the Carlisle community, and I love being in a community that puts such a high value on education and family.
On a personal note, I am happily married to my wife, Heather, and we have five wonderful children ranging in ages from 7 to 17 years old. Needless to say, we have a very full and busy household. Our family enjoys music, sports, gardening, reading, traveling and volunteering for a number of different organizations.
During my educational career, I have had many memorable experiences that have given me the opportunity to mature and strengthen my teaching and leadership skills and subsequent principalship.
I originally studied at Gordon College with the intent of becoming a secondary music teacher, and I continue to love music and playing the piano. After graduation, I had the chance to go to Japan to teach English, as well as tennis, to children for two and a half years. I quickly fell in love with working with young children and acknowledge that this experience influenced my desire to continue in education. On my return to the states, I went back to school to attain my degree in elementary education. Upon completing my degree, I was hired as a 5th grade teacher. At the same time, I attended Lesley University where I received my Master’s Degree in Moderate Special Needs Pre-K to grade 8.
Over the next several years I taught in grades 2, 4 and 5. Consistent with my goals and desire to further my education, I attended school at Nova, Southeastern University where I received a doctorate in Curriculum and Systemic Change. Among my past experiences in education, I was an elementary principal in Melrose. I feel that I have learned a great deal in each of my past roles and credit these positions for ultimately giving me the opportunity to acquire my present position of elementary principal in Carlisle.
I am extremely fortunate that my career path has led me to Carlisle where I am surrounded by other administrators and faculty members who share the same goal of educating and supporting each and every child in reaching his/her fullest potential and beyond. I am committed to the philosophy of teaching to the whole child, giving children the opportunity to learn and become positive citizens to show excellence.
My office door is always open, so please feel free to contact me (978-369-6550 or dsidell@carlisle.k12,ma.us) if you have any concerns, educational ideas for the future or simply would like to share some positive experiences. I am very thankful to be part of the Carlisle School system and look forward to working with each of you on behalf of your children.
Sincerely,
Dennet
