From the Superintendent's Desk |
Dear Carlisle Families,
It is hard to believe that May has arrived and the end of the school year is already on the horizon. While summer is in sight, there is still a great deal to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
Students continue to engage in MCAS assessments this month, and we appreciate their focus and effort. At the same time, May offers a wide variety of enriching and exciting activities. The WBYC, in partnership with our Ultimate Frisbee team, will host an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on May 15th at Spalding Field. On May 15th, our kindergarten students will present their Chicka Chicka Boom Boom performance in the auditorium, always a joyful highlight of the year. Spring athletics are also in full swing, with students participating in Ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, and cross country. I encourage everyone to attend a game or meet and support our student athletes. Please visit the district website calendar for schedules.
Our spring Band and Choir Concert will take place on Wednesday, May 6th, showcasing the musical talents of our students. In addition, several field trips are planned: Grade 5 will visit the Concord Museum; Grade 3 will travel to Plimoth Patuxet Museums and participate in a hands-on Boston Tea Party experience; and Grade 7 will head to Level99, an interactive challenge-based venue that encourages teamwork and problem-solving. We will wrap up the month with Elementary Field Day on May 27th. We are also looking forward to the Drama Club’s production of A Midsummer Night's Dream with two shows taking place at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 29th and 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 30th.
Parents and caregivers may want to note a few important dates. Wednesday, May 13th is an early release day, and we extend our sincere thanks to the PTO for hosting a Staff Appreciation Luncheon in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week. On Monday, May 18th, there will be no school for current kindergarten students as staff conduct screenings for incoming kindergarteners. Finally, there will be no school on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day as we recognize the sacrifices that were made by so many in service to our country.
We look forward to a month filled with engaging experiences, meaningful learning opportunities, and, hopefully, beautiful spring weather.
Warm regards,
Jim O’Shea
Superintendent
