Welcome to the 2018 Cross Country Season
The Carlisle Cross Country team welcomes any student in grades 5-8 interested in running. Emphasis in practice will be focused on improving individual conditioning as well as providing specific exercises to improve general running form and technique. Above all, there is a commitment to provide a positive and supportive atmosphere to runners of all athletic abilities. League rules prohibit any race to be longer than 1.8 miles, and most students should expect to begin their training with us at much shorter distances, gradually increasing their speed, distance, and endurance over time. If your child is interested, we would love to have them join us.
Practice will begin on Monday, September 10th. Practices are scheduled Monday-Thursday unless there is a meet scheduled for that day (see meet schedule below). Practice begins promptly at 3:15 on the Spaulding field and runs until 4:30. Parents should plan to pick their runner up at that time or make other arrangements with their child. Kids should come prepared to run with good sneakers and appropriate running gear. We also encourage kids to have an inexpensive running watch. There are no practices on early release days.
