Summer 2021 Math Work
Dear 6th Grade Families,
As you may know, every summer the math department encourages our students to maintain and develop their math skills. This summer we are encouraging in-coming 6th grade students to complete the 5th grade Khan Academy program. The program of study will cover:
- Addition & Subtraction
- Multiplication & Division
- Place Value & Decimals
- Measurement & Data
- Algebraic Thinking
The program offers a nice balance of instruction and practice. There are instructional tutorials for every topic if the student needs coaching and problems that provide the practice and repetition necessary to master the concept. We encourage students to log a minimum of seven hours over the course of the summer working on these problem sets. However, please use your discretion. If they complete the problems and want the challenge, they can preview the 6th grade program.
While the Khan Academy program is fairly self-explanatory, Click here for instructions on how to set up your account.
We hope you have a wonderful summer and we look forward to working with your child in September.
