Speaking and listening experiences are planned in seventh grade so that students will further develop the skills and confidence to communicate effectively in different situations. To that end, students will have opportunities to work on their speaking and listening skills every day.

In any given year, students may participate in the following:

• Presentations
• Debates
• Small group work
• Whole class work
• Delivering oral presentations, both individually and with others
• Performing to entertain, persuade, and/or inform
• Asking and responding to questions
• Brainstorming
• Collaborating
• Informative, relationship, appreciative, and critical listening
