In fourth grade, students are exposed to a wide variety of art mediums and techniques such as watercolor wet-in-wet painting, printmaking, clay and plaster. Artists studied include J.M.W. Turner, Andy Warhol, and the Inuit. Connections to Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum include a graphic novel unit and state animals. In fourth grade students also take a field trip to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA to observe Asian art as well as early American paintings.
