We hope you had a happy new year and that your family is settling back into the school routine now that we have a couple of weeks under our belts.
Shakespeare Performance, 1:00 Friday February 15th: In Language Arts, students have begun work on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We have moved the desks out of the way, and students have decorated the classroom with flowers, lights, feathers and scarves. We are spending every day in Language Arts up on our feet playing with the play. Our Shakespeare unit will culminate on the last day before February break, in a full-day workshop with the world-famous Shakespeare and Company and our own joyful performance of scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Please take this timing into consideration when making travel plans for February break! We hope to have every student with us on the day of the performance. Parents will be invited to attend!
Math: Chapter 2 math digital portfolios have recently been assigned to students this past week. Delta/Gamma’s project is due February 1st, while Alpha/Beta’s project is due February 5th. Students will have class time to complete this assignment, along with assigned homework time.
Interim Reports: Friday, January 18th, interim reports for term two will be sent home with each eighth grade student. Please sign and return all interim envelopes and feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
High School Placement Recommendations: On Friday, your sons and daughters will come home with placement recommendations for their high school course selections in Math, Science and Language Arts. We anticipate that there might be rising stress as eighth graders anticipate these recommendations and then make decisions about registration. We are here to help guide your sons and daughters through this process, and will contact you with more information about registration in the following weeks.
CCHS Curriculum Night: There will be an informational meeting for all eighth grade parents from Concord and Carlisle at CCHS on Thursday, January 31st. Science Curriculum information will be from 6-7, and general information about curriculum will be from 7-8.
As always, please contact us with any questions or concerns.
